The Matt Atkinson Scholarship Fund was established to recognize and commemorate the actions of Matt Atkinson, who thwarted a Columbine-style massacre at East High School in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
After hearing of a potential Columbine-like attack on his school, Matt Atkinson did the right thing and notified authorities to avert the tragedy. Police found sawed-off shotguns, automatic weapons, pistols, ammunition, and several bombs, as a result of Atkinson’s information. "Matt saved our lives," said fellow students.

By doing the right thing, Matt became a hero to the Green Bay area, the ABC News Person of the Week, and a shining example to teens everywhere. Now you have a chance to help him and other worthy area students achieve their educational goals.

The Scholarship
To honor the actions of Matt Atkinson, Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt and community leaders created the Matt Atkinson Scholarship of Honor. The scholarship will help pay for Matt Atkinson's higher education costs, and establish an ongoing scholarship fund to recognize and reward other worthy students in the Greater Green Bay area who show courage of conviction, and concern for their classmates and community.
